New Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink would love to recruit Didier Drogba

The divisive tone for the day was set by Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas being booed as the starting lineup was read out before the match.

Chelsea assistant manager Steve Holland is happy the players delivered results in their first game without Jose Mourinho.

“That’s the way everyone has to look at it, you can’t have it both ways – so I think collective responsibility is the key phrase here. So it was a very important win”.

Mourinho returned to Stamford Bridge in June 2013 and proceeded to win the Premier League and League Cup last season.

Going into the game, Chelsea were 16th, three points and three places above Sunderland but the win lifted them to 15th, four clear of the drop zone.

Hiddink was previously appointed at Stamford Bridge in February 2009 following the departure of Luiz Felipe Scolari, when he led them to FA Cup glory.

New Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink says that he would love to recruit Didier Drogba to the club’s backroom staff.

“Absolutely and rightly so as well”, Terry told Chelsea’s official website, when asked if restoring fan support would be crucial now. “I am looking forward to working with the players and staff at this great club and especially renewing my wonderful relationship with the Chelsea fans”. Hos time at Chelsea this season may have been a disaster but Mourinho is well known for making a big impact when he takes over. “Second half was not as good but we are delighted with the three points”. A few of us have done that individually but collectively as well.

Chelsea lost nine of 16 games in its title defense before the west London club decided that the “palpable discord” between Mourinho and his players compelled them to dismiss the manager for a second time, eight years after his first hasty exit.

“It is all in the past and we have to move on and start winning matches”. We have already seen the current champions Chelsea lose all hope of retaining the trophy and even if Jose Mourinho had not been sacked and managed to turn their form around, he would have needed a miracle.
