Delhi Govt sets up probe into DDCA affairs; Jaitley to sue Kejriwal

The Chief Minister’s decision to brazen it out became clear last night itself as the other AAP leaders named by Jaitley in his defamation suit had stuck to their guns and continued to target the Finance Minister.

The Finance Minister denied all the allegations against his family members.

Jaitley, who headed the DDCA for over a decade until 2013, has denied any wrongdoing, and accused AAP leaders of tarnishing his image and unnecessarily dragging his family members into the controversy.

A day after alleging corruption in DDCA, BJP lawmaker and former cricketer Kirti Azad on Monday openly dared his party senior Arun Jaitley in tweets. Reports are that apart from Mr Kejriwal, cases have been filed against Kumar Vishwas, Ashutosh, Sanjay Singh, Raghav Chadha and Deepak Bajpai. “I have taken legal recourse… please waive off all rules and ask the leader of opposition to start discussion on any specific things against me; I will answer it right now”, Jaitley said.

Hitting back, Jaitley had said in his blog that the AAP convener is trying to divert attention and protecting his corrupt Principal Secretary by linking it to the Delhi Cricket body. “Jaitley has impeccable character, honesty and high standards in public life”, said union minister Venkaiah Naidu in the lok sabha.

The video released has footage of a DDCA annual general meeting of 2011-12 that purportedly showed Azad questioning Jaitley, the then DDCA chief, and shows Jaitley defending DDCA office bearers who were being questioned by Azad.

Demanding a discussion, Azad said “he (Jaitley) can’t remain on the position”.

“In Rs 114 crore, a stadium with a capacity of 42,000 was made”.

“Even when the finance minister says he is ready for a discussion, shouting of slogans is unjustified and unacceptable”.
