Christmas bonanza for Apple fans as iPhone 6s, 6s Plus get cheaper
The Economic Times, which first reported the price cuts, said that Apple had been struggling to boost sales of its flagship phones after the Diwali season closed. The original pricing of the new iPhones was much higher than most of the countries at the time of launch which led to lower sales as mentioned by retailers.

Apple lovers in India have a reason to rejoice with the company slashing the price of its latest iPhone 6s and 6s Plus smartphones by up to 16 per cent.
The handsets are now at least 16 percent cheaper than when they first launched two months ago – with the the basic 16GB iPhone 6s now costing between Rs 52,000 and Rs 55,000 ($785 – $830), down from the Rs 62,000 ($935) launch price. The iPhone 6s Plus with 128GB is still hovering around Rs 84,924 compared to the launch price of Rs 92,000. All the three models 16Gb, 64GB and the 128GB have received a price cut. While Snapdeal is ahead of others in the race, others too have entered the frey with deep discounts ahead of the New Year rush in India, if not Christmas alone. The new price cut follows a similar one for the iPhone 5s in India last week, which saw the 2013 iPhone reduced by almost half of what it was selling for in September: 44,500 Rupees to 24,999 Rupees. The new price tag makes it attractive for customers to purchase the new device as many people were initially reluctant to upgrade to the new model due to the enormous price difference between the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s.
So while the iPhone 6s is now priced at Rs 52000, prices on Flipkart, Amazon and Snapdeal go as low as Rs 48,499 for iPhone 6s 16 GB version, reports The Indian Express.

Tarun Pathak, senior analyst at Counterpoint Technology Market Research, noted that the price reduction of the 5s could easily “take the wind out of iPhone 6s sales” in the immediate future given the large gap in price between the two.
