Sources close to pep Guardiola claim the Bayern Munich boss is not happy with the condition of Chelsea squad and he is wary of taking such an ever changing role at the club.

Manchester City are known to be keen admirers of Suarez’s abilities and are hopeful that the arrival of Guardiola will help them tempt the 28-year old to the Etihad Stadium next summer.

But then the missing link here could be that Suarez’s agent is none other than Pep’s brother Pere Guardiola, which could have some significant effect on the possibility of this deal happening.

City won the Premier League and Capital One Cup under Pellegrini in 2014, but nothing last season. “Some day he’ll come here”, said Pellegrini who has 18 months left on his contract.

City are not shy of splashing the cash and a potential move for the former Liverpool hitman could see him reunited with ex-teammate Raheem Sterling, who the Manchester side splashed £50m on last summer. “I am sure he will be very important for the club”. But he is experienced enough to know that the landscape can change very quickly, irrespective of the contract a manager is on.

“It was true for a while because we were a young team and a young team can be up and down”, Wenger said.

“For me it is not hard because I want to win, win and win”, he said. The last results of the games we played away were not as good as we want.

With a trip to another of the season’s high-flyers Leicester on December 29 also among the sequence, the upcoming festive period has the feel of a critical period, but Pellegrini has played down its significance.

“A lot of things will happen in the future”.

City could be boosted by the return of Sergio Aguero, above, at the Emirates, and Silva himself has been ‘getting the rhythm’ back after returning from an ankle injury lay-off at the end of November.
