It’s definitely the season for sharing as Microsoft will be releasing a collection of free games to download as a treat for all Xbox One users. In addition, those with Xbox One consoles can find discounts on more than ten backwards-compatible games.

Microsoft’s end of the year sale for the Xbox Store known as Countdown is beginning this Tuesday.

Xbox One and Xbox 360 users can now have their own “year in review” in terms of activity and games played using their respective devices. The sale will be divided into daily and weekly deals, so keep visiting the page for the next two weeks.

CNET is reporting that the sale will run from December 22nd until January 7th and will also include apps, TV shows and movies.

The standard discount will range between 40% and 60% off selected titles, while those with a Gold membership will save even more. The feature was launched on November 12 this year and many have been enjoying playing older game titles on the newest console, according to Larry Hyrb, Director of Programming for Xbox and author of the company’s Major Nelson blog. “And the most popular games fans from around the world have been spending those hours playing are Fallout 3, Gears of War 3, Just Cause 2, Assassin’s Creed II and DiRT 3”.

Those who have been waiting and looking forward to Microsoft’s Countdown Sale have only a couple of days left to wait. You’ll also get the same global averages as the previous hour counts (members of the Xbox community unlocked 69 achievements on average in 2015), and you’ll see just what kind of a percent increase your friends and the greater Xbox community had for unlocked achievements this year compared to last year.
