Pharma CEO Martin Shkreli Arrested For Securities Fraud (Top Story)

Shkreli stepped down as CEO of Turing, the company said on Friday, a day after he was charged with securities fraud, securities fraud conspiracy and wire fraud conspiracy related to his management of hedge fund MSMB Capital Management and biopharmaceutical company Retrophin Inc.

Many are even blaming those involved in Shkreli’s education for his criminal activities, including that same high school which he attended before dropping out to pursue a career on Wall Street. His arrest was confirmed Thursday by Federal Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Kelly Langmesser.

Turing also said it was sending a similarly worded letter to doctors stressing that it will continue to offer financial assistance to eligible patients needing Daraprim who are either uninsured or have commercial insurance. Shkreli, who has built a heavy presence on social media, chatted with viewers and played Internet chess in a livestream broadcast Friday (Dec 18) afternoon. “At the same time, I am very excited about the opportunity to guide Turing Pharmaceuticals forward”.
