Public Schools investigating threat similar to LA, NY warning
In New York, however, officials said a similar threat to schools had been received and was being treated as a hoax. To reassure students and parents, LAUSD Police Chief Steve Zipperman said all officers at the district will be in uniform the remainder of the week for high visibility.

All schools in Los Angeles, the second largest school district in the United States, were closed December 15, 2015 after officials reported receiving an unspecified threat to the district and ordered a search of all schools in the city. This is not a credible threat and not one that requires any action. “It was so outlandish”, de Blasio said.
New York Police Commissioner William Bratton agreed. “The investigation is ongoing as to where the threat originated from and who was responsible”, Schiff said in a statement quoted by the LA Times.
After investigating, authorities said it was safe to open the schools on Wednesday.
Students already at school were sent home, officials said, and families rushed to come up with alternate plans.
“There certainly is no uniform approach”, he said.
She says, “At this point, we’re focused on LA Unified”. It claimed the writer and “138 comrades” would carry out the attack.
“The students in LA will be massacred mercilessly and there is nothing you can do to stop it”. He says the person claimed to be a jihadist, but made errors that indicated he was really a prankster.
At Carpenter Elementary School in Hollywood, school officials were expected to be available to address questions and discuss how information is disseminated if a similar threat happens in the future. He says after Paris and San Bernardino, law enforcement has warned about the possibility of schools becoming terrorist targets.
Bratton called the closure a “significant overreaction”.
“They made a decision based on their analysis in their situation”. He submitted the proposal after hearing from a police chief about a case in which a threat on Facebook led to school evacuations but the suspect could not be charged with anything more serious than disorderly conduct.
“I know the kids are anxious”, she said.
The Los Angeles Unified School District lost $29 million in state funding following an anonymous email threat of a large-scale jihadi attack that prompted a district-wide closure. Yet it also points to a calmer and more sanguine response to the threat of terror, with the city opening museums to students for free and keeping city parks open late. “It was many schools, not specifically identified….” Beck added that police officers would be deployed at city schools to quell any remaining fears.
Later in the day, he conceded that the threat was not credible.
Los Angeles canceled school Tuesday in light of the threat Tuesday, prompting some criticism in NY, from Bratton in particular, for “overreacting”.
Ronna Bronstein, who has two sons in the fifth and eighth grades, said she was trying to find out more about the threat while shielding her younger child from the news.
The poll said 40 percent of respondents feel national security and terrorism should be the government’s top priority and more than 60 percent say those concerns should be in the top two.

“I don’t want this to be in the back of her head”, she said. “We do not know whether this email is from a devout Muslim who supports jihadists or perhaps a non-Muslim with a different agenda”.
