Practice Squad Player Marcus Ball Confronting OBJ With Bat in Hand (Vid)
Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has been suspended one game by the NFL for what the league stated was “multiple violations of safety-related playing rules”.

The New York Giants and/or Odell Beckham’s representatives are working overtime to find someone to blame for Beckham’s actions on Sunday that got him suspended for a game. The suspension was overturned three times, and in the case of then-Redskins and now-former Giants safety Brandon Meriweather, the suspension was reduced from two games to one in 2013.
After everyone had watched the footage over and over of Beckham Jr. running across the field to spear Norman in a helmet-to-helmet hit that should have had him ejected from the game, it was obvious that a suspension would be iminent.
The 18-year veteran earned Pro Bowl honors eight times and First-Team All-Pro honors three times during his illustrious career.
Even so, Beckham now is a full card-carrying member of the Wideout Diva Club after his antics Sunday when he turned the game into a fistfight – more punches thrown than in a heavyweight fight – and included his ludicrous, intentional and risky launching into Norman on a blatant helmet-to-helmet hit.
What Beckham did was wrong, and surely he must realize that now – especially after hearing his coach, Tom Coughlin, say in no uncertain terms that the head shot was unacceptable.
Drummond said players took the bat to NY as a way of remembering cornerback Bene Benwikere, who suffered a season-ending broken leg against Atlanta.
After the game, Beckham said he regretted his three penalties. He said Panthers coach Ron Rivera would address the situation Tuesday afternoon.
Both the Giants (6-8) and Beckham have emphasised the need for him to not get rattled by opponents and wear his heart on his sleeve – something that Beckham more than succumbed to against Norman. “I think guys understand what we nearly let slip away here, and how devastating that would have been”.
“It made me sick watching that yesterday”, Francesa said as he went to break. His teammates did it for me. “I’m proud of the way he handled himself [postgame]”.
“We were going to hit and stick everything we see”, cornerback Josh Norman told the Charlotte Observer. “We get a big play. (But) it’s a good opportunity for us as coaches to talk about some of the things that went on in the game, and to use that to our advantage in terms of going forward”.
Benwikere broke his leg during the Atlanta game. Ball was carrying a baseball bat that Carolina defenders usually take onto the field before games, symbolic of “bringing the wood”.
Reactions from fans and media regarding Beckham’s actions range from “he definitely lost his cool and should be punished, but it wasn’t outrageous” to “the Giants should be docked a draft pick”.
If the suspension is upheld, Beckham would not be permitted this week to be at the Giants’ practice facility. The team found Norman instigated the other two, the source said.
“At numerous times during (Sunday’s) game against the Carolina Panthers, your actions placed a fellow player at unnecessary risk. and clearly did not represent the high standards of sportsmanship expected”, Hanks said in a letter to Beckham.
Most likely. The league stated “The conduct of other players … is being reviewed for potential discipline in the form of fines”. (Beckham caught six passes for 76 yards and the TD.) Norman said there should have been a flag on the touchdown for Beckham’s alleged pushing off, but he did allow that he needed to be “stronger”.
Carolina had a 35-7 lead late in the third quarter before the Giants rallied, scoring four unanswered touchdowns and tying the game at 35 with 1 minute, 46 seconds remaining.
-PASSING OFFENSE: C. Quarterback Eli Manning had a decent game behind otherwise solid protection, but between the dropped passes, two of which came from Odell Beckham Jr. and the lack of true production from anyone else, it wasn’t as solid of a day for the passing game.
