‘Putin killed reporters? Prove it!’ – Trump to ABC show host
He said it was “outrageous” for Trump to accept Putin’s praise, and excuse the Russian dictator’s crackdowns on dissent, including the murder of journalists: “I don’t know of a single documented instance in which the President of the United States has ever ordered an assassination of journalists who issued bad coverage of them or who have taken a different political line”.

212 GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney took to Twitter to point out “Important distinction: thug Putin kills journalists and opponents; our presidents kill terrorists and enemy combatants”.
Donald Trump says he hasn’t seen proof that Vladimir Putin has killed journalists. “So, you know, you’re supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, at least in our country”, Trump added.
“So, I’m a deal-maker”, Trump said.
“I’m saying when you say a man has killed reporters, I’d like you to prove it”, Trump argued.
The US presidential candidate admitted that it would have been “despicable” if Putin were really implicated, but he hasn’t seen “any evidence that he’s killed anybody in terms of reporters”.
“Do you know the names of the reporters that he’s killed?” But nobody’s proven that he’s killed anybody as far as I’m concerned.
Trump shared similar sentiments about Putin during a separate interview Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press”.
“I think the answer is yes”, Trump answered.
Trump acknowledged that there are allegations of nefarious activity against the Russian president, but said Putin has “always denied it”. “And I’m saying it would be a awful thing if it were true. We’ll have smart leadership and strong leadership, and you know, frankly, having a good relationship with Russian Federation instead of a awful relationship with Russian Federation would be a positive thing, not a negative thing”.
The mutual respect between the two larger-than-life figures prompted a satirical campaign ad from Ohio Governor John Kasich, who is also in the running for the Republican nomination in the upcoming presidential elections. Trump’s apparent pleasure at Putin’s compliment last week earned him some criticism back home, but the Republican frontrunner has stuck to his position since. Marco Rubio of Florida, said during an appearance Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation” that Trump “shouldn’t be honored” by Putin’s words. Though he’s right, Putin’s critics are often silenced violently.

“You wouldn’t have had the problem, to the extent, not almost to the extent… instead, nobody had a gun except the bad guys, and when the bad guys have a gun and the good guys don’t, it’s very simple math it’s not to work out well”.
