D’Angelo Russell, Julius Randle deny Lakers played ‘scared’
The Lakers’ point total was their second-lowest this season and the lowest by an Oklahoma City opponent since the Thunder beat the Miami Heat 93-75 on March 22.

“They want to get a glimpse of greatness”, Scott said.
But again, Russell and Julius Randle had to defend themselves against their feckless head coach. “They’ll just remember this is Kobe’s a year ago”. They really just got embarrassed by the way we played tonight, and I told them it was pathetic in every area.
Lou Williams led the Lakers in scoring with 20 points on 5 of 11 from the field, and Jordan Clarkson had 15 points on 7 of 15 shooting.
Kobe Bryant says he’s not pushing to play on the US Olympic team in Rio, but the retiring Los Angeles Lakers guard said Monday it would make a “beautiful” ending to his 20-year career.
The Nuggets are an inconsistent team, one the Lakers have a reasonable chance of beating, even on the road.
He sat out a historically one-sided game against the Oklahoma City Thunder because of a sore right shoulder, the same one that ended his 2014-15 season with surgery for a torn rotator cuff.
“I just took it in and I said, “Rob, I don’t rule anyone out, but it has got to be based on performance because there’s so many people who want (to be on the team); everyone wants to be on the roster”.
He was off to a numbingly poor start this season but improved recently, averaging 23 points on 53 percent accuracy the previous three games.
“There weren’t as many periods that we’ve had in the past of letdown, loss of intensity, loss of focus”, interim coach J.B. Bickerstaff said. After the game, Scott called out his team for playing “scared”.
It was great to see this version of Kobe Bryant, not the one chucking airballs and making us cringe like an episode of Arrested Development where the characters lack self-awareness so much that they don’t realize how ridiculous the situation is. Durant, who cares so much about these things and his box score, it was probably even more pleasing than the win.
Kobe’s recent run of good form is perhaps best punctuated by his posterizing dunk over Clint Capela in the loss against the Houston Rockets.
It was the first game in the Lakers’ last 12 that Bryant had missed.
The Lakers hardly helped themselves as they allowed Durant to post 22 points on 7-of-13 shooting in 29 minutes.

“I’m back”, he tweeted on Saturday. “I said, ‘Ah, you ran the baseline of your own free will.’ (Rockets) Trevor (Ariza) and James (Harden) and those guys were pretty amusing, too”.
