Lopez, Young lead Nets to 105-102 victory over Bulls
The Bulls were beaten on the glass, particularly late when they needed to secure defensive rebounds and Thaddeus Young and Brook Lopez seemed to get whatever they wanted inside, combining for 37 points and 25 rebounds. This is statistically the 2nd-worst offense in the league, and they could’ve had an even better night if they weren’t doing Nets things like having to play Bargnani so much and throwing the ball around (Jarrett Jack with 4 of his team’s 14 turnovers), but they were very good from midrange and good enough from three, with Wayne Ellington and Bojan Bogdanovic in particular having good-for-them shooting performances. Instead, their losing streak reached three despite Butler’s 24 points and 20 from Pau Gasol.

Chicago Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg gestures to his player during the first half of an NBA basketball game against the Brooklyn Nets on Monday, Dec. 21, 2015, in Chicago.
After dropping games to the Detroit Pistons and New York Knicks the Bulls looked to get back to basics against a Nets team that had only one road win coming into the UC. But the Nets behind Thaddeus Young continued to shoot well and took a 29-22 lead after one quarter. He iced the game with a pair of free throws.
Nets: G Joe Johnson was 10 for 38 in his last four games, including 2 for 10 Sunday against the Timberwolves. Behind a barrage of 3 point shooting the game was tied in the 2nd quarter but they went into half down 58-53. Jimmy Butler leads in points with 21.4 and in steals with 1.8 per game. “He’s just not finishing some of the shots he normally finishes”, coach Lionel Hollins said.
Bobby Portis moved into the rotation on Monday night, and now the first-round pick’s role could increase for all the wrong reasons. With Mirotic starting, Portis played the backup minutes at power forward, while Snell, who has started 21 games, was out of the rotation.
