Only hours after his grandson’s death at 28 years old, a grieving Jimmy Carter apologized for being late to his Georgia church service for the first time ever before delivering his regular Sunday school lesson. Carter added that when Jeremy’s mother went to check on him, she discovered that his heart had stopped. He was rushed to the hospital around 1.30 am ET.

Unfortunately, doctors were unable to keep him alive and Jeremy slipped away in the early morning hours of Sunday.
