Crowd pitches fit when projector stops at ‘Star Wars’ screening
What makes the film’s internarial sales super impressive is the fact that it hasn’t even opened in China yet, the world’s second biggest film market. Star Wars doesn’t open there until January 9 and it still made history.

Thousands joined a mock lightsaber battle in Los Angeles, where an Australian couple married in line for the film. Well, the folks behind the movie have the answer you’ve been looking for. “BB-8 comes up and says something to him, which is basically, ‘I’ve got this piece of a map, do you happen to have the rest?'” Abrams said. “This is a huge, huge win”. It’s not anything to do with the story; it’s just seeing your character’s name consistently coming up in a script for a film that is Star Wars! The Force Awakens was the exception, though, as some theater chains played the movie 24 hours around the clock last night, and plan on doing so again tonight.
An audience member loses it as the projector failed Friday at a “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” screening in Hollywood. “This represents a new record for the industry and portends a potentially record-breaking opening day and weekend for the film”, said Paul Dergarabedian, of box office tracker Rentrak. “Disney has this down to a science”.
$120.5 million – How much the film brought in on its opening day in the USA on Friday, roughly $30 million more than the previous opening-day record. Well, Jurassic World is the third-highest grossing movie of all-time, and it opened with $208 million through its opening weekend. Star Wars: The Force Awakens should have no problem besting those numbers. “J.J. and Lucasfilm delivered a true Star Wars experience”. Theaters added showtimes to meet demand.
He later posted two clips of himself surprising a family watching the “Star Wars” trailer. “Force Awakens” toys, clothing, home accessories and video games already pervade stores ahead of Christmas.

The movie is opening three years after Disney paid $4.06 billion for Lucasfilm. Audiences awarded an “A” grade in polling by survey firm CinemaScore. CNBC notes that Avatar, the biggest grossing film of all time, took just $77m during its December release in the U.S. – and no film has previously bagged more than $100m in North America for its debut in that month.
