Boston College: 80 sickened after eating at Chipotle, including men’s
Boston College sent out a letter to all students Monday afternoon about the illnesses and the “common denominator of all affected students having eaten at the local Chipotle restaurant”, Dunn said.

Local health inspectors closed the Cleveland Circle location on Monday after it was cited for having a sick employee working with food and failing to keep stored meat at proper temperatures.
Federal investigators are trying to figure out how people got E. coli at a popular restaurant chain. The cause of the contamination hasn’t been determined. The states with reported cases are Washington, Oregon, Illinois, Maryland, Pennsylvania, California, Minnesota, New York and Ohio.E. coli are bacteria commonly found in the intestines of humans and animals, some strains of which can cause severe food poisoning. A separate E. coli outbreak that’s made 19 people sick in seven states was linked to celery sold at Costco, 7-11, King Sooper and other stores.
To prevent food-borne illness from striking in the future, Chipotle is enhancing its food safety measures, using DNA-based tests, end-of-shelf-life testing and additional internal training.

A manager at the Chipotle location in New Haven declined to comment Tuesday, requesting questions be forwarded to corporate, which also didn’t respond; Chris Arnold, a spokesman for Chipotle, did not return a call seeking comment.
