Meanwhile, Congress may approach the Supreme Court seeking expunction of some adverse remarks made by the Delhi High Court in the National Herald Case in which Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are among the accused.
Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi could seek bail when they appear before a magistrate tommorow in the National Herald case with the Congress today insisting that they were open to all legal remedies and options.
On Saturday, the Gandhis were granted bail in the National Herald case at the Patiala House court after furnishing a personal bond of Rs.50,000 each.
Just before him, Sonia Gandhi, for whom the bail was furnished by former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh said she was quite aware of the assaults by the opponents for generations “but they could never remove us from our path”.
“The current authorities on the Centre is making an attempt to deliberately goal its opposition and for that they’re making the fallacious use of the central businesses”.
“The country knows the legacy and politics of this family”, he said.
Party workers from Sonia Gandhi’s constituency Raebareli thronged the office.
“When the Gandhis (Sonia and Rahul Gandhi) entered, they were made to stand in a corner where the accused are supposed to be”.
Referring to the status of assets, the Congress leader clarified that these were and will continue to remain in the name of AJL only although some shareholders wanted these to be liquidated to make up for the losses and outstanding payments.
The Gandhis were earlier summoned by the trial court on a private criminal complaint of Subramanian Swamy of cheating, criminal conspiracy, misappropriation of property and breach of trust. A few days later, their lawyers had approached the Delhi High Court to quash the summons but were firmly told to present themselves in Magistrate Loveleen’s court as there appeared to be sufficient basis in the charges listed against them. “I have no doubt that the truth will come out”.
The Congress leaders will appear before a district court in Delhi.
Congress state units held demonstrations against the BJP government across the country with party chief ministers leading marches in some states.
Fundamentally, the Gandhis have charged the Narendra Modi government and the Prime Minister himself with indulging in a “political vendetta” against the Gandhis, and the Opposition in general, and have resolved to not be cowed down. I want to tell all the citizens of India that the Congress party and I will not bend.
Swamy speaking to the media exuded confidence that by 2016 the Gandhis would be behind bars in this case.

“The judge rejected my application, but their lawyers plea for exemption was also not accepted”, he said.
