Chelsea responded to the departure of Jose Mourinho by surging to a 3-1 victory against Sunderland at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Saturday, while Manchester United lost at home against Norwich.
“He is strong mentally and very competitive”.
“Believe me when I say that all of us go out to win every game and we players have to look at our performances and take responsibility for where Chelsea sit in the table right now”.
“I understand why the fans are so upset”.
Reacting to Mourinho’s Stamford Bridge exit last week, Fabregas tweeted: “Thank you for all you have done for me”.
“I think he’s a guy who wants football, and needs football. Good luck in the future”.
The west London club announced on Thursday afternoon they had parted company with Mourinho by “mutual consent” after a poor start to the season left them one point above the relegation zone.
Now Fabregas’ team-mates have lent their support to the Spain star, with Pedro admitting the Chelsea squad will all fight to win back the approval of their fans.
And the 52-year-old Mourinho seemed to be issuing a reminder to future employers when the statement stressed: “During his career, Jose has sometimes chosen to leave a club, but only at Chelsea has the club decided that he should leave”. It is normal, it is a very hard situation.
“It was certainly hard for the players, but it was an important win”.
The experienced Dutchman said, “I want to get some good insight before I make my decision”.
