Iraq Wants Turkish Troops Out of the Country
Earlier, Ankara said that it was continuing the withdrawal of its forces from the Bashiqa camp in Iraq’s northern Nineveh province. In their statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said there had been “a lack of communication” with Iraq regarding the deployment of their troops. But the Shiite-dominated Iraqi government recently asked Turkey to withdraw those troops after regional tensions between pro-Sunni Turkey and Shiite Iran worsened.

President Erdoğan reiterated that Turkish troops in northern Iraq were there to fight against ISIL, according to a statement by the President’s Office.
President Barack Obama urged Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to pull troops out of Iraq, amid a row that has split key members of the coalition fighting the Islamic State group. “First, condemn that illegal Turkish occupation and invasion”, which violated Iraq’s sovereignty as well as UN Charter and worldwide law.
On Monday, Turkey’s state-run news agency quoted military officials as saying a 10 or 12-vehicle convoy had left Bashiqa camp and was moving north.
On Tuesday, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that the presence of Turkish forces in Bashiqa does not pose a threat to the territorial integrity of Iraq but represents a strong entity against terrorism.

Iraqi ambassador, Mohamed Ali Alhakim, said, “We are solving it between Baghdad and Ankara bilaterally”. The White House said Obama and Erdoğan also talked about joint efforts to strengthen the moderate Syrian opposition and step up pressure on ISIL, as well as continued efforts to create conditions for a negotiated solution to the conflict.
