Bay Area family ID’d weekend Bakersfield plane crash
The crash of a small plane killed five members of a Gilroy, Calif., family, when it fell into an almond orchard near Bakersfield, Calif. Hours later, debris belonging to the aircraft was discovered scattered across a quarter mile in a central California orchard. However, as reported by the Associated Press, the bodies haven’t been identified as of yet.

Air traffic controllers lost contact with the single-engine Piper PA32 around 4 p.m.as it was flying from Reid-Hillview Airport in San Jose to Henderson Executive Airport in Las Vegas, FAA spokesman Ian Gregor said.
Investigators had not located the plane’s tail number, which would officially identify it as the aircraft out of San Jose, but authorities believe it is the plane.
Information on a Federal Aviation Administration website suggested the plane headed for Bakersfield’s airport when trouble aboard the plane was noticed, and when the FAA received its first emergency call. It was revealed the plane may have crashed in the area of Panama Lane and Allen Road.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board have begun an investigation, officials said.
The Sheriff’s Office, Bakersfield Police Department, California Highway Patrol and Kern County Fire Department responded to the area and conducted a ground search, the release said.
