SpaceX returns to flight with triumphant first stage landing
In a remarkable coup for Elon Musk’s private space company, the first stage of its Falcon 9 rocket made a powered, controlled descent to a floating platform at Cape Canaveral, shortly after takeoff.

The event was a huge success for the company founded by the co-founder of PayPal and Tesla Motors, especially after it saw a previous Falcon 9 rocket explode a few minutes into its flight to the International Space Station back in June. It’s a major step toward the introduction of reusable rockets, which would reduce the cost of launches. The satellites will provide machine to machine communication for Internet of Things applications on Earth.
SpaceX has successfully landed a vertical rocket back on Earth after travelling to space.
“Headed to LZ-1. Welcome back, baby!” It landed at the landing site which was about 9.65km (6 miles) south of its launch pad.
SpaceX CEO Elon Musk while talking about his company’s latest achievement said, “I still can’t quite believe it…I think this is a revolutionary moment”.

In the meantime there are people who called out Bezos for trying to compare Falcon 9 with the New Shepard, which is way shorter, others reminded him that landing the Falcon 9 was tougher than the Blue Origin rocket. Creating reusable rockets is important for lowering the cost of space travel, which could make space tourism and a trip to Mars more feasible.

The SpaceX ORBCOMM-2 Mission successfully landed the first stage of a rocket during an orbital launch, a feat never before accomplished. In the meantime, he’s working to transform the SpaceX Dragon capsules from cargo ships into real spaceships for crews traveling to and from the orbiting station.
