Stamford Bridge star delighted with Chelsea response to Jose Mourinho sacking
The Blues beat Sunderland 3-1 on Saturday in their first game after Jose Mourinho left the club following a dismal run of results that left Chelsea languishing in the bottom six of the table.

“I don’t think a lot has changed since then”.
“Guus has not spoken to the players collectively but he has spoken individually to some who were still around at the point he arrived [in the dressing room after the match]”.
The Chelsea captain, known to have been one of a minority of players who still fully backed the Portuguese by the end, said the players felt “responsible”.
The atmosphere at Chelsea was toxic as another post-Jose Mourinho era began – even though the champions sauntered to a victory over Sunderland.
“It is a hard situation for everyone. But rightly so they are disappointed and so are we, we don’t want to be where we are”.
Before the unprecedented but anticipated sack of Jose Mourinho, he claimed the players didn’t give their all and accused them of betraying him.
“We were much better in the second half, but why didn’t we start like that? You get connected with guys that come in”.
Although the 69-year-old Dutchman was appointed on Saturday to repeat the firefighting role he first carried out at Chelsea in 2009, when he won the FA Cup, coach Steve Holland assumed temporary control against Sunderland.
The club highlighted how fans were “singing his name following our final home game” of the 2008-09 season, but it was Mourinho’s name they were still chanting on Saturday.
“The thing that has enriched me most in these past few years has without doubt been getting to know different cultures; the customs in various countries”, said Ancelotti, who has also coached Paris Saint-Germain since leaving his homeland. It was going to be tough for us, individually and collectively, but I think we put in a very good performance.
“If it was the case where you could get rid of a lot of players I’m sure clubs would do that, but unfortunately it does fall on the manager’s head, there’s nothing we can do about that”, Terry said.

The Black Cats are rooted in the relegation zone following defeat at Chelsea, their 11th in 17 Premier League matches.
