Star Wars also beat Jurassic World in America – 248 million dollars (£166 million) compared with the dinosaur movie’s 208.8 million dollars (£140.2 million) this summer. But by Friday afternoon, those projections began to look increasingly conservative. This is just the latest in a laundry list of records set by J.J. Abrams’s film, the seventh in the franchise, which had analysts anticipating a debut anywhere from $150 million to $300 million.

At the end of the movie they would have reconciled and gotten over their differences. For starters, the movie opened across the nation Thursday night, with more than $57 million in receipts.
