Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s latest outing Bajirao Mastani gave tough competition for the movie which released on the same day. The overseas collections of the movie in these three days are Rs. 56.38 cr, taking the total number to Rs. 121.47 cr.

Earlier this year, Jurassic World stormed the global box office in its opening weekend taking $525 million – breaking the record previously held by Avengers.

In a movie as big as this – it’s already broken a number of notable box office records – there are inevitably going to be a very long list of Easter Eggs which make repeat viewings essential, and you just know that’s something Disney are pretty happy about right now!

The Force Awakens made $57m (£38m) on Thursday night, beating the previous record of $43.5m held by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. What the new Disney reboot lacks is essentially all the things George Lucas used to drive the franchise into the dirt.

Episode VII picks up the intergalactic story of good versus evil 30 years on from The Return Of The Jedi, the last episode of the original trilogy. Underneath, it bears the message,”Universal Pictures, Steven, Frank and Colin congratulate Star Wars: The Force Awakens on the biggest opening weekend in galactic history”. Universal’s raunchy, R-rated comedy Sisters, starring Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, followed with an estimated $2.5 million from 2,961 locations for a four-day domestic total of $16.5 million. It earned only $14 million.
