Donald Trump up 4% over Ted Cruz in Quinnipiac poll
If Ted Cruz wins SC, he is on his way to winning the nomination. Imagine if Trump has, say 45% of the delegates, and Cruz has 35% and Marco Rubio has 20%.

“I think on a number of issues, he wants to have it both ways, depending on which audience he’s talking to”, Paul said of Cruz. Their last pre-debate poll showed Trump at 27 percent, Rubio at 17 percent and Carson and Cruz both at 16 percent.
Cruz’s campaign forcefully sought to change that Friday. “I oppose amnesty. I oppose citizenship”. It’s this phrase: “I do not intend to support legalization …” “I always have and I always will”.
Cruz answered questions during a media gaggle on a tranquil berry farm, where hundreds of supporters showed up in the misty morning to hear the senator speak.
Recent reports, and Rubio and Paul, have drawn attention in particular to Cruz’s role in the 2013 Senate debate over the “Gang of Eight” immigration reform legislation, which Rubio had a key role in crafting. (Incidentally, his latest campaign buzzword is “undocumented Democrats.”) His objective in introducing the amendment was to expose those intentions – or so Cruz claims. Cruz latched onto the process by which longstanding immigrants here illegally would gain legal status in the USA, and declared that he “did not intend” to allow legalization.
First up is Iowa, where Cruz has been moving up slowly but surely for several weeks now and where the new poll, conducted by CBS and YouGov using the online polling methods I’ve discussed before, has Cruz with 40% and Trump in second place at 30%.
Rush Limbaugh and other conservatives have desperately tried to help Cruz out of this jam by framing the amendment as a “poison pill” that was actually meant to scuttle the bill. The sincerity of the assessment has been questioned, given many believe Clinton most fears Rubio.
Though conservative by most measures (he is anti abortion even in the case of rape and incest, pro gun and a defence hawk), Rubio has been dubbed a “moderate” by Cruz for softer positions on immigration and family tax credits. As the New York Times has written, they have a much better record than polls of pointing to the eventual nominee of a party.
“Rubio has not put in the face time that he really needs to have, I don’t think”. He and Rubio clashed repeatedly over topics including national security and military spending at this week’s debate.
But he’s the only one with an organization strong enough to capitalize, says Steve Gill, a conservative activist and Cruz delegate. “But he has serious competition in the moderate lane”, Cruz told the publication.
As his career progressed, Cruz portrayed his policies as having been shaped by his own immigrant experience. “What we shouldn’t do is intentionally mislead Americans about the positions of others – and it’s disappointing Senator Rubio has chosen that path”, Vander Plaats said in a statement. “You have a profound appreciation for the miracle of opportunity in this country”.

Cruz’s 31-mintue speech at the Daphne Civic Center, which followed opening remarks from Sessions and Rep. Bradley Byrne, also served as a recruiting opportunity for the senator who urged attendees to donate toward his campaign in Alabama.

“Well, let me read you a letter that you wrote…written on June 4, 2013, signed by you”, she said.
