Gunfire erupted Saturday inside a large Wisconsin shopping mall on one of the busiest shopping days before Christmas, leaving a man wounded in the leg, police said.

“At no time was this an active shooter randomly shooting at people in the mall”, Despain added. Police say one person pulled out a handgun and fired at least one round.

The mall reopened around 6 PM. A notice on the mall’s website said the mall “is temporarily closed due to a safety concern”. Doing so may result in civil and/or criminal penalties.
