It’s hard to imagine that things will be like this forever in Los Angeles, but until the team finds that sweet spot with each other, we can’t expect it to get better. “I studied him, wanted to be like him”, Durant said.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – Kobe Bryant may not have made the difference.
“I’m sure it didn’t help”, Bryant said.
Kevin Durant scored 22 points and Russell Westbrook handed out 11 assists to lead Oklahoma City to a 118-78 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers at Chesapeake Energy Arena. The Thunder won for the fifth consecutive time against the Lakers.
The Lakers’ point total was their second-lowest this season and the lowest by an Oklahoma City opponent since the Thunder beat the Miami Heat 93-75 on March 22.
“We just had to stay focus and keep doing what we do every night”, Kanter said.
Twenty-three games into the regular season, the venerable Lakers star Kobe Bryant is finally starting to look like his old self. It also included 2013-14 NBA MVP Kevin Durant. The Thunder had seven dunks in the first half, three of them alley-oops from Westbrook to Steven Adams.
While the Thunder (18-9) erupted, Lou Williams was the only Laker to impress.
The 27-year-old has 16,056 points, including 25 in a 104-100 loss in Cleveland on Thursday after which LeBron James said Durant has a chance to challenge Abdul-Jabbar’s record of 38,387. “It is easy for us to get caught up in the emotion of it all and forget to look at the tactics of it all”, Bryant said. We didn’t come to compete. “I grew up overseas, I grew up in Italy (where his father played professionally), and to be able to see how basketball became such an worldwide sport first-hand… it would be a lovely thing for me personally to be able to finish my career on the global stage”.
The Lakers are in an awkward stage of rebuilding and saying farewell to one of the best players to ever don their purple and gold jerseys, which has resulted in some questionable personnel decisions from head coach Byron Scott. 500 at 14-14 after winning just 17 games last season.
It will be the fourth game Bryant has missed this season, which he has said will be his last.
“How [teammates] reacted was pretty much how I was feeling inside”, he said with a laugh.
Scott had announced before tipoff that Bryant would sit out with a sore right shoulder. They enter Tuesday’s game having lost eight of nine.
“I definitely plan on helping the game spread and helping kids all around the world understand all that surrounds the game and its potential”, Bryant said. Eventually the timing will come back.
Kobe Bryant is retiring and that’s not something that’s even remotely a secret anymore.

Scott joked beforehand, “I just don’t want him to ask for his autograph after the game”.
