KaloBios fires former Turing CEO Martin Shkreli after his arrest
Within days, Shkreli led an investor group that scooped up 70 percent of KaloBios’ shares on the open market, at prices generally under $2 a share.

He again insisted that he would be found not guilty of the securities fraud and conspiracy charges he now faces, charges for which he can be sentenced to 20 years if convicted.
The charges against him stem from his time at drug company Retrophin.
Craig Ruttle/AP Martin Shkreli on Thursday, after his arrest in Manhattan.
While being unapologetic about the price of Daraprim, Shkreli added in the interview that Turing, from which he resigned as chief executive after the arrest, might change its approach.
Daraprim, sold exclusively through Walgreens under a deal with the Chicago-area pharmacy retailer, is a treatment for toxoplasmosis, a rare parasitic disease that can cause severe brain damage and death in people with compromised immune systems, including those with AIDS.
Martin Shkreli says he was arrested last week because he hiked the price of a life-saving drug by more then 5,000%, not because of financial misdeeds alleged in his federal indictments.
Shkreli told The Wall Street Journal that his ongoing feud with Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders hasn’t helped him. Shkreli tweeted Saturday: “I am confident I will prevail”. “Willing to donate hundreds of thousands to charities before I go to prison…” and, “I am now a god”.
It is hard to feel sorry for a man who not only had such little regard for the welfare of the most vulnerable people on the planet, but also lied about reversing his position after the public backlash.
His You Tube account, where he’s frequently live-streamed himself working on his home computer, talking to himself and eating, also was hit with posts belittling him and hasn’t been active since Sunday.
Despite that, at 9 a.m. Monday morning, KaloBios’ November announcement of appointing Shkreli as CEO was still prominent on the company’s website.
On Friday, Shkreli resigned from his role as chief executive of Turing Pharmaceuticals, which has offices in Zug, Switzerland, and NY.
Tilles has been chairman of Turing’s board of directors since the company was founded late past year.

KaloBios stock was halted on December 16 after news of the arrest. Trading will not resume until the company satisfied Nasdaq’s request for additional information, the exchange said in a statement.
