Star Wars: The Force Awakens accumulated $250 million in global ticket sales including $120.5 million from domestic and $129.5 million from worldwide box office as of Friday, according to data from The Numbers, a movie industry data provider operated by Nash Information Services LLC.
“The Force Awakens” grossed $57 million domestically on Thursday night, when shows started at 7 p.m., destroying the prior record of $43.5 million set by “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2”.
The film is playing at a total of 4,134 North American locations on Friday – a record for a December opening. As a result, The Force Awakens is the first movie to ever earn more than $100 million in a single day, which also makes it the fastest movie to ever reach triple digits.

The occasion? Visitors from a galaxy far, far away were on hand to celebrate a White House screening of “The Force Awakens” for military families.
However, unlike Jurassic World, The Force Awakens was not released in China on its opening weekend and won’t be screened there until January 9.
Biggest opening weekend of all time in United Kingdom (4-day), Australia, Russia, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Austria, Poland (3-day), Denmark (5-day), Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria, Croatia, Ukraine, Iceland, Serbia, New Zealand.
Forty-seven per cent of Thursday’s domestic ticket sales came from 3D tickets, Disney said.
US Press Secretary Josh Earnest speaks to the press in the briefing room at the White House flanked by Star Wars characters R2D2 and Storm Troopers.

“We are obviously very encouraged by both the record-breaking pre-sales as well as the opening day box office for the movie in Ireland”, she said.
