Texans take control of division with 16-10 win at Indy
Suddenly, the Broncos were once again looking like Super Bowl contenders during the first 30 minutes of the game.

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle first reported Yates suffered a torn ACL. “I’m excited for the guys in that locker room”, Weeden said after the game. Just a little elbow soreness.
“I’d hate to sit there and let something slip by and then all of a sudden look back and say, ‘Boy, I didn’t know they were going to lose two games, ‘” Pagano said.
The discomfort Newton dealt with was alleviated a bit by being able to savor an unprecedented win over the Colts, breaking an all-time losing streak of 13 road losses at Indianapolis. “It really set the tone for us”. Comparing Hopkins first 3 seasons’ to former Houston Texan Andre Johnson’s first three seasons in the NFL, Hopkins has 8 games of 8 receptions or more while Johnson had just 5.
With practice changing a bit this week, the Colts coaches spent all of Tuesday morning game planning before players came in for meetings around lunchtime.
With Luck out, the Colts will once again turn to 40-year-old Matt Hasselbeck, who Pagano said is “beat-up from the feet up” after injuring his back in Sunday’s loss to the Texans.
It was a glorious day, another day in which Texans head coach Bill O’Brien had to make do with what he had and squeeze everything he could out of his defense to come away with an historic team win. At 5-9, the Dolphins have the best record of the Colts’ two remaining opponents, adding even more weight to this matchup.
Brandon Weeden replaced injured quarterback T.J. Yates late in the first half and threw a go-ahead 8-yard TD pass to Jaelen Strong with 10:36 to play Sunday, giving Houston a 16-10 victory – its first win in 14 tries at Indianapolis.
After the game, Chuck Pagano said despite the loss the team still has a shot at the postseason.
With the victory, the Texans are 7-7 and control their destiny in the AFC South. A victory at Tennessee and another at home against Jacksonville would end the Colts’ dominance in the AFC South, won by the Colts in nine of the 13 seasons the division existed. He was claimed by the Texans a day later to serve as a backup to Brian Hoyer and T.J. If the Texans are going to hang around in January, they’ll need more of that pass rush that roughed up Matt Hasselbeck this week.
O’Brien said that things were probably more hard for Weeden on Sunday because he had to orchestrate a game plan that was made for Yates. Houston’s Alfred Blue ran 20 times for 107 yards…. The Colts couldn’t run the ball, finishing with just 50 yards on the ground, 2.6 yards per carry.

“Only one hurts at a time”, he said. That resulted in the Colts settling for a field goal, one that wound up being their final points of the game.
