Houston Texans Defeat the Indianapolis Colts With Weeden
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport (via Kevin Patra of NFL.com) reports that Yates may have suffered a torn ACL on Sunday. “The Colts kept us in this division by losing a couple of games and we knew that we had to take advantage of it. That’s what we did”.

Should both teams finish 8-8, the tiebreakers now favor Houston, meaning the Colts would miss out.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – The Indianapolis Colts’ postseason plans are in tatters.
“There were opportunities to have more points than that”, said quarterback Matt Hasselbeck.
If you had told me back in October that the Texans would beat the Colts for the first time in Indianapolis with Brandon Weeden at quarterback I would have advised you to seek medical attention.
Houston’s defense stopped the Colts cold in the second half and third-string quarterback Brandon Weeden threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Jaelen Strong with 10:36 left in the game to help the Texans stun Indianapolis 16-10. Around the country, it may not have been a big deal, but in Houston, it felt like the end of UCLA’s 88 game winning streak, Oklahoma’s 47 game winning streak, and the Undertaker’s 21 match wining streak at Wrestlemania combined.
“All the focus was on today and trying to find a way to win today”.
At that point, Houston coach Bill O’Brien had to wonder if he’d soon be joining recently deposed Dolphins coach Joe Philbin on the golf course.
“I’d hate to sit there and let something slip by and then all of a sudden look back and say, ‘Boy, I didn’t know they were going to lose two games, ‘” Pagano said.
What with the comeback win over the Colts in Indy-something that eluded the Texans until Sunday-some have wondered if the Cowboys didn’t make a mistake when they benched Weeden after three starts (and three losses) and ultimately cut him. Zach Mettenberger will get the start Sunday at Nissan Stadium for Tennessee.
The Colts have signed QB Alex Tanney, an undrafted second-year player from Monmouth, off the practice squad and onto the active roster to back up Charlie Whitehurst should Whitehurst get the start over Hasselbeck.
“I think it has more to do with how the independent doctors evaluate him and how our training staff works with them as far as the evaluation”, O’Brien said. Protection, again, didn’t hold up, which is why he’s so banged up in subbing seven games for an injured Andrew Luck. Their matchup this Sunday is against the New Orleans Saints. “The Titans and Jaguars are good teams that are capable of beating us, so we don’t want to get too happy over this win”.

A stingy defense allowed just 190 total yards and Weeden played effectively in an ugly game. When all is said and done, the Texans will win the division and clinch a playoff spot.
