Modi leaves for Russian Federation
“Russia was the first country with which we concluded a formal agreement on strategic partnership, which has since been elevated to the level of “special and privileged” strategic partnership in recognition of our multifaceted bilateral engagement”, Modi said. “I am very optimistic about the outcome of this visit”, Modi said.

Modi’s “Make-in-India” push for a military that has been the world’s biggest importer for the last four years has also made little headway, with negotiations stalled over issues including technology transfer and the local assembly of equipment.
The Prime Minister will visit Russia’s National Crisis Management Centre (NCMC) here tomorrow. “You might like it or not like it, he is not tense about it. He explains with a feeling of oneness and in a friendly manner”, said Modi about Putin. “Russian Federation remains one of India’s most valued friends in the world”, Modi said. And in 2001, I visited as a member of the prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s delegation, in capacity of a chief minister.
The sixteenth annual bilateral summit between the leaders of both the countries has been held alternately in Moscow and New Delhi since 2000.
India and Russian Federation are likely to ink a number of pacts in a range of sectors including nuclear energy and defence.
The summit would take place on December 24.
It will be Modi’s second summit with Putin who was here past year for the 15th India-Russia Summit.

A free trade agreement is also expected to be signed between the two sides. The Assam Police will be facing two major challenges in the year 2016 the South Asian Games and the State Assembly elections and those issues were also discussed.
Asked whether Russian Federation will strongly back India’s bid for a seat at the UN Security Council, he said “Two countries have great confidence and trust in each other”.
During the visit, a raft of agreements spanning a broad spectrum of sectors are expected to be signed between the two countries with trade being a major focus area. “And this would continue to be a big theme at this summit as well”, Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar said.
“Similarly, mutual investments are roughly around $11 billion of each other”. The two neighbours have expedited efforts to escalate it up to $30 billion by 2025.
According to Jaishankar, a lot of work has been done to facilitate trade and improve the investment climate.
The Prime Minister is also scheduled to visit the Russian Emercon, which is an emergency disaster facility.
“Out of 200 Kamovs, some 60 will be made in Russian Federation and the remaining will be assembled and manufactured in India under the public private partnership mode”.
