Isabelle LaPeruta from Old Bridge, New Jersey was upset because the story tells children the magic of Christmas is lost if the elf is touched.

The girl said she was trying to call her dad about the accident and asked the 911 dispatcher not to send an officer to her home, but procedure requires a follow-up on all 911 calls from children, police said.

But unfortunately for Isabella LaPeruta, she was so flustered by the elf encounter that she called 911 instead of her father, according to NBC New York. Her mother, who had been taking a nap, woke up to find Isabella trying to take care of the police situation before her mother woke up.

Isabelle had to tearfully explain to mom Lynanne that the elf fell to the floor when she accidentally hit it with a ball.

‘In her mind, she did right, and it was fine with us’.

The officers knocked on the door and the girl attempted to shoo them away because she was scared of getting in trouble.

“He knows I’m not going to do that again”, she said of St. Nick. The story describes how Santa’s “scout elves” hide in people’s homes to watch over events. “My magic might go, and Santa won’t hear all I’ve seen or I know”, the book states. Being back from the North Pole, the elf returns each morning in a different location of the house.
