Defence, nuclear, trade high on agenda
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a two-day visit to Russian Federation for the 16th annual summit with President Vladimir Putin that will be aimed at expanding their agreements in a broad range of fields, especially nuclear energy, defence and hydrocarbon.

Pre-contract work is underway and the two sides expect to clarify the agreement during Modi’s visit, the source said.
Mr Modi is scheduled to pay a two day visit to Russia to hold an annual summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Asked whether India was supplying three Mi 25 helicopters to Afghanistan through Russia, the foreign secretary said, “Technically these were not Russian acquisition”.
The Prime Minister’s engagements in Moscow also include addressing a gathering of “Friends of India” and around 3,000 people are expected to attend the event tomorrow.
Even though a traditional buyer of weapons from Russia, India has moved closer to the U.S. and others in defence procurements in recent past.
