“There were a thousand people waiting for answers on things, and you couldn’t tell them anything except ‘Yeah, that guy’s in it.’ That was about it. That was really all we knew”. Sometimes these sorts of requests are fulfilled with the shortest, yet most prestigious, of roles the cameo. Rey’s sensible wardrobe is the first indicator of a change in the galaxy, and the movie keeps them coming like X-wings on the horizon.
Episode VII of this cult film is set 30 years after Episode VI, Return of the Jedi, and sees Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) disappear, after which the Resistance, a military force supported by the Republic, and the First Order, a successor to the evil Galactic Empire, actively start searching for him.

However, some of the references to the original were too on the nose for those who’ve followed the series for a long time.
Films with that kind of drawing prowess are rare, but Davis saw the record-breaking opening of “Star Wars” as evidence that the shared experience of viewing a movie on the big screen remains important, despite the trend toward streaming entertainment on smaller screens. It’s not like “Phantom Menace” was fifteen years ago. He’s the link between the old generation and the new.

I give this film a 8.8/10.
