18 dead after migrant boat sinks near Turkey
Four people were rescued by the Turkish Coast Guard and a suspect has been detained for organising the illegal journey, Anadolu said on Friday.

At least 18 migrants from Syria, Iraq and Pakistan, including 10 children, drowned when the boat transporting them from Turkey to the Greek island of Kalymnos capsized, Turkish media reported Saturday.
The wooden boat – packed with refugees, including Syrians and Iraqis – was seeking to reach the Greek island of Kos when it sank in Bodrum Bay.
Those rescued were taken to the hospital in Bodrum, many in a serious condition, the agency said.

According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), 801 919 people have arrived in Greece by sea from the beginning of the year until December 17, with another 4256 having arrived by land. Some 800,000 asylum-seekers have reached Greece from Turkey up to now this yr – an astonishing number in that has strained the resources of the financially strapped nation.
