Michael Sullivan, sports editor for Boston College’s student newspaper The Heights, reported eight of the members of Boston College’s men’s basketball team were among those infected.

He said test results from specimens sent to labs were expected back later Tuesday or Wednesday.

This appears to be the peak of the outbreak, but Ells cautioned that the contagious nature of norovirus could mean there will be more cases reported.

“The Health Services staff remains hopeful that the norovirus will be contained in light of their efforts to inform students of guidelines to avoid spreading the illness”, Dunn said in a statement. Previously, Ells had said that Chipotle would try to work with at least some of its small suppliers to institute better safety measures, but that not all would be on board.

“With the norovirus, we have heard that this is the extent of it, but it’s a disease that is very easily passed and so it spreads very, very quickly from person to person, ” he said. The common factor among the students is that they had all eaten at the Chipotle restaurant in Cleveland Circle.

Bernstein said Chipotle should keep safety brochures on hand that workers can give to customers anxious they’ll get sick.
