So, why exactly is Ford earning so much?
I saw “The Force Awakens” on Saturday, Dec. 19, opting to miss the crowds of opening night, and went with my dad, who took me to Episode III back in 2005 when I was 11 years old.
The writer-director says – spoiler alert! – that while trailers for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” feature footage and dialogue that didn’t ultimately end up in the final cut of the movie, the discrepancies weren’t meant to throw anyone off.
Ford is easily the biggest name among the cast, and spent considerably more time on screen than Fisher and Hamill. Their salaries likely will grow as their involvement in the sequels of the franchise grows. The previous two – “Star Wars IV: A New Hope” and “Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back” came out in 1977 and 1980, so, I wasn’t around for the fervor of their original release. Initially she reveals her subtleness yet showed why she was able to survive living in Jakku and then convincingly transformed into the experience of the awakening with the force. This time around, you can bet she negotiated a much better deal for Episode VII. Despite many redeeming qualities (Darth Maul versus Qui-Gon Jinn & Obi Wan Kenobi tops my list), the prequels failed to live up to the standards of the Star Wars legacy. Some were optimistic, others skeptical, however when J. J. Abrams was announced to direct and more and more footage was released of the newly named The Force Awakens, the dissenting voices began to quiet. On the whole, the film was largely successful, and wildly entertaining to watch.
With the current numbers, however, business analysts believe Abrams will easily meet his goal.

The stellar opening weekend was great news for North American cinemas, where box office revenues were down five percent to US$10.4 billion past year while increasing barely one percent globally, according to statistics from the Motion Picture Association of America.
