NORAD preparing to track Santa’s journey
“NORAD has supported Santa Claus’ Christmas Eve operations for 60 years and we are always delighted to help”, said Col. Michael J. Norton, EADS commander. But the story of how Norad Santa tracking started is very interesting.

To use Cortana to find Santa, just pull up the voice-based assistant any time before Christmas, and ask.
The traditional Santa tracker can be accessed online as well as through iOS, Android and Windows Phone apps, making it easy to show the kids where Santa is when you’re out running last-minute errands.
Before spending the afternoon in the park, Claus says that he will often visit local elementary schools and spend his evenings entertaining families at parties and other events.
I’m saying the Santa tracker started life as a cynical Cold War PR campaign.
Santa usually arrives in the northern IL region between 9 p.m. and midnight but children need to be in bed or Santa may fly by their home and have to come back later, Chouinard said. Rather than hanging up and explaining they had reached the wrong station, he and his operators found the location of Santa Claus and reported it to every child who called in that night. The director made a decision to have his staff check for Santa flying down from the North Pole, and callers were given updates on his location.
Emma is a big fan of the Christmas clock countdown.
Santa said the longest he had ever grown his beard was a bit below mid-chest, which would be roughly two feet long.
And now, you can track Santa LIVE on Christmas Eve with the map above!
For Emma, “I think it’s cool because sometimes you can see Rudolph”.
It’s all the cookies he eats along the way, the kids decided. The program also is sponsored by corporate contributors so that taxpayer dollars aren’t spent on the program. The practice continued and was taken over in 1958 by NORAD, the bi-national air defense command for North America, run by the governments of Canada and the United States.

However, many hallmarks of Santa’s style didn’t appear until much later in the decades that followed the American Revolution – the 1800s, to be exact – and most can be attributed to literary descriptions or early sketches of the mysterious man with the bag.
