India police charge 15 over beef-rumour mob murder
Mohammad Akhlaq, 52, was dragged out of his home in September and beaten to death by a crowd after rumours spread at a Hindu temple that a calf had been killed in Uttar Pradesh – one of many Indian states where slaughtering cattle and selling and consuming beef illegal.

Uttar Pradesh police, while filing a chargesheet in Dadri lynching case, ruled out conspiracy angle into the murder of Mohamamad Akhlaq who was beaten to death in Dadri’s Bisara village on September 28 by a mob that accused him of eating beef.
In their assertion to police, Vishal and Shivam claimed they have been requested by others to commit the act and have been prepared to determine these accountable.
The chargesheet names Vishal Rana, son of a local BJP leader, and cousin Shivam as the main conspirators who led the mob to Akhlaq’s house and assaulted the family.
“The chargesheet in this case was filed Wednesday”.
“Charge sheet has been filed against 15 persons”. However, police sources said it quotes both Akhlaque’s family and the accused to say that suspicion of cow slaughter was the motive for the lynching.
“While Saista had given a number of particulars, it took greater than two months to document Danish’s testimony since his situation was essential”. However there was no mention of beef in the charge sheet just as there was no mention of it when the FIR was filed in October. The police do not, however, mention any political motive.
Two more persons, Puneet and Bhim, were arrested on Wednesday while two others, identified by Danish continue to be absconding indicating a chance of a supplementary chargesheet in the case. Police sources stated that in the chargesheet, Danish and his sister Saista have been prime witnesses. The chargesheet named 15 people as accused, one of whom is a juvenile, reported Times Now.

The police have attached the preliminary forensic examination report on the meat found in Akhlaque’s house, which said it was that of goat, not cow.
