4 shot in 3 northern Maine communities, gunman being sought

Police are looking for a registered sex offender, who may be driving a stolen logging truck, in connection with the shooting of four people in northern Maine.

Police said the shootings happened in the Aroostook County towns of Benedicta and Silver Ridge and the Penobscot County town of Lee overnight Thursday into Friday.

The search was concentrated in the Lee area. A command post has been set up at Lee Academy, reports Fox News.

Police believe Lord stole a Maine-registered 2010 maroon Peterbilt with green lettering on the side saying “McCarthy”.

Four people were shot overnight in the towns of Lee, Benedicta and Silver Ridge, Maine.

Lord is listed as a lifetime registrant of the Maine sex offenders’ registry. So far, no information about their conditions has been released. Police said he was considered armed and unsafe.

“It’s mind-blowing. To see a SWAT team in Lee or Lincoln is ridiculous”, said Rick Jipson, a mechanic who lives nearby in the town of Lowell.
