Osweiler the starter, Manning to be inactive
Even with Brock Osweiler persistently melting down in the second halves of games, Manning appears nowhere close to seeing the playing field again soon.

STREAKS, STATS AND NOTES – Bengals have 11-21 record on Monday nights, including win over Denver in Cincinnati last December….
Last week Manning returned to practice for the first time since the loss to the Chiefs.
This will be Osweiler’s sixth straight start for the Broncos since Peyton Manning has been sidelined with a plantar fascia tear in his left heel.
“We got ourselves into this situation and I wouldn’t say it’s a bad situation”, wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders said.
Denver’s usually sound defense gave up its highest point total of the season against the Steelers and will look to bounce back against the Bengals, who gained a season-low 242 yards last week.
Denver Broncos quarterback Brock Osweiler speaks with reporters… The Broncos will practice Thursday, then take Christmas Day off before finishing preparations for the Bengals on Saturday. The fourth-year quarterback, who is getting the first starts of his career, completed 14 of 18 passes, with three touchdowns, plus a rushing touchdown, in the first two quarters against Pittsburgh, as Denver was 8-for-8 on third downs and held a 27-13 halftime lead.
Although the addition of Davis has allowed Denver to better use their tight ends in Gary Kubiak’s zone-based offense, the two-time Pro Bowler has had two huge drops the past two weeks that might have allowed the Broncos (10-4) to avoid losses to Oakland and Pittsburgh. I like that routine, so that’s what we’re going to do this week. Hopefully we’ll have a good week this week and we’ll see, just trying to get him healthy….
Osweiler has started four consecutive games but lost two consecutive starts and has a left shoulder injury.

“It doesn’t bother me either way”, Osweiler said. I’m going to tell you what: Hell no, no way, OK? They cannot only win the division, but the AFC’s No. 2 seed and a first round bye, if they win their next two games at home vs. the Cincinnati Bengals and San Diego Chargers.
