Thunder demolish Lakers by 40 points
“He kind of shocked me when he told me”, said Lakers coach Byron Scott, Bryant’s teammate during the 1996-97 season. “I just hope he doesn’t ask for his autograph”, Scott said of Brown guarding Thunder F Kevin Durant.

“I think we were playing too stiff”, said Harden of the team’s recent performances.
“The Sacramento Kings in the playoffs were tough”, Bryant said next, referring to one of his team’s fiercest rivals, whom they faced and defeated in consecutive playoff series from 2000-2002. “Like I said, it just looked like we were in awe of that team”.
Lakers: Scott coached the then-New Orleans Hornets (now Pelicans) during their two-season stay in Oklahoma City (2005-06 and 2006-07) and said he has fond memories of that time….
Oklahoma City rested its starters in the fourth quarter and the Lakers were unable to do anything against the Thunder reserves. He finished with four points on 2-of-9 shooting.
The Thunder won for the fifth straight time against the Lakers. Terrence Jones did not have an astonishing game, but did enough as he carried the team after James Harden struggled to score the ball in the second half. The Thunder wore their alternate sleeved jerseys. Turns out, Bryant was a last-minute scratch from the starting lineup due to a shoulder injury.
“They (the Rockets) have got a bunch of players over there that like to compete”, said Bryant, who had Lakers fans roaring and on their feet after he drove the lane for a dunk – his first of the season – over forward Clint Capela in the third quarter.
“I’m sure it didn’t help”, Bryant said.
Playing in his 20th season, Bryant, 37, pointed out that he had “pretty heavy-duty” surgery on that same shoulder after tearing his right rotator cuff in late January during a dunk against the New Orleans Pelicans.
They have lost eight of 10 games since then, dropping down to 10-16 and 12th place in the muddled Western Conference with home losses to Denver, Portland and Orlando in that stretch. “And it’s very easy to forget I haven’t played because of it. My timing is off, my rhythm is off. It was about me continuing my training and believing my timing will come back and that’s what happened”.
The Rockets’ two-game losing streak ended with a win over the hapless Lakers Thursday night, 107-87.
“(In the) last three years, I haven’t really had the chance to play that much in the National Basketball Association and the timing is off, the rhythm is off, things like that”. However, the 20-year professional made it clear that his body would not permit him to play another season anywhere.

As many people noted after Kobe named those five players, Shaquille O’Neal is absent from that list.
