Spacewalking astronauts fix station’s stuck rail car
American space agency NASA said that two astronauts aboard the worldwide Space Station (ISS) have successfully completed their spacewalk on Monday in order to perform some repairs in the stations railcar.

The arm’s mobile transporter, known as the MT, stalled after NASA ground controllers uplinked commands to move the MT from work site 4 to work site 2 on the station’s power truss, or backbone.
NASA’s one-year spaceman, Scott Kelly, and astronaut Timothy Kopra exited the space station’s hatch ahead of schedule and made their way toward the stuck rail auto so they could release its brakes.
The International Space Station is ready to receive a cargo delivery this week thanks to a successful moonwalk Monday.
“That was pretty easy”, Commander Scott Kelly said, according to a live broadcast of the spacewalk on NASA television, after he hit the stuck brake handle and got the vehicle moving again.
If they hadn’t fixed the problem, a Russian Progress cargo ship carrying almost three tons of food and supplies would not be able to dock as scheduled on Wednesday.
At 3:44 a.m. EST this morning, the resupply mission launched from Kazakhstan.
Russia, one of 15 nations that own and operate the station, plans to launch a new research laboratory, while the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration is preparing to install docking ports for new commercial space taxis that are slated to begin flying in 2017.
The trio are all hovering inside the space station as they deliver their message, and end it with something rather spectacular. Kopra arrived at the space station less than a week ago; this is the second spacewalk of his career.

During the three-hour spacewalk, Major Peake, along with Russian cosmonauts Mikhail Korniyenko, Yuri Malenchenko and Sergei Volkov, remained on board the ISS.
