After retweeting a message from his manager, Scooter Braun, Justin told fans to back the NHS single as it’s the “right thing”, it’s “for charity, “and tweeted a link to their single”.
And it looks as though the NHS Choir have a good chance of snatching the victory from Justin Bieber in the nail-biting battle.
Justin then added: “I’m hearing this UK Christmas race is close…but the @Choir_NHS single is for charity. So… Put the NHS number in the charts (sic), and also number one on the agenda”.
“He’s sold millions of records around the world and has millions of fans – it’s just a bit bonkers”, said Lewisham Hospital physio Liz Steele.
Proceeds from the NHS Choir’s single will go to charities including Carers UK and Mind.
The Christmas number one is based on a combination of sales and streaming and will be announced on Radio 1 on Christmas Day.
Sales and streams of songs between 12.01am on December 18 and midnight on Thursday December 24 will count towards the 2015 Official Christmas Singles Chart.
The choir’s single is a mash up between Coldplay’s Fix You and Simon and Garfunkel’s Bridge Over Troubled Water.
“It was supposed to be something that signifies us”.
The Choir is formed of staff from Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Choir who said they took inspiration from the 2009 campaign that catapulted Rage Against the Machine’s Killing in the Name Of to number one.
The chart is released on Friday, so we’ll have to wait and see how much of an affect Bieber’s Christmas spirit has had on the results.

But barring a last-minute surge, this year’s X Factor victor Louisa Johnson is unlikely to have a look-in for the hotspot.
