Chelsea players ‘sad about what happened’ with Mourinho but must move forward

Guus Hiddink has warned Chelsea’s players they will face the axe if they do not show “great desire” to reverse the club’s miserable Barclays Premier League fortunes.
Hiddink, 69, had a caretaker spell in charge at Stamford Bridge in 2009 when Brazilian Luiz Felipe Scolari was sacked and Chelsea went on to reach the Champions League semi-finals and win the FA Cup under his care.
Mourinho convinced Fabregas to join Chelsea for £30million in June 2014, the former Arsenal midfielder helping the Blues claim the Premier League title last term. I have to say I am not a big social media guy, that’s not a road I go down but clearly the fans had a view on certain things today and it is their right to do that. It’s a few years ago that I was here in a similar situation and I tried to help out when I was asked to do so.
Drogba’s future has been a hot topic since a report in the weekly Jeune Afrique that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich had called him about a return – not to play, but either in a backroom position or as an assistant coach.
“Why can’t I be here longer?” he said in El Pais yesterday, when asked about leaving the La Liga joint leaders, in an interview conducted before Mourinho’s departure. “But, nevertheless, things happen in football and people take the decision they’ve taken”. But anyhow I’m glad to be back.
Hiddink warned he will dump any players who have not got the “desire” to turn the club’s disastrous season around following Jose Mourinho’s dismissal.
Four days after being appointed manager on a six-month contract, Hiddink will hold a press conference at 1230 at the club’s training base in Cobham, Surrey.
“He is a legend already in this club, but also outside this club in the world”.
Drogba is now on an end-of-season break following his first season in the MLS with Montreal Impact. We now have big players, but it is hard to compare.
“I think he can be a key player as captain of a national team for Belgium”.
He took his first head coach’s job at PSV Eindhoven in 1987 and won the Dutch title in three consecutive seasons as well as winning the European Cup in 1988.
“But we definitely intend to get him involved”.

“Obviously we don’t play to lose but we are responsible as well, we have top players so we shouldn’t be 15th in the league, ‘ said the Belgian custodian”.
