Hyatt Hotels announced Wednesday it has discovered malware on computers used for payment processing at its hotels.
As always, customers should review their payment card account statements closely and report any unauthorized charges to their card issuer immediately.
Hyatt is providing complete assistance to those customers who have queries. “Customers can feel confident using payment cards at Hyatt hotels worldwide”.
The company did not specify when the attack occurred, but said an investigation is ongoing.
USA lodge chain Hilton stated that hackers infected a few of its level-of-sale pc techniques with malware crafted to steal bank card info.
Cyber threats blogger Brian Krebs at KrebsonSecurity.com said in an online post that “Hyatt joins a crowded list of other hotel chains similarly breached in the past year”. While some of the companies have not disclosed details, Starwood acknowledged last month that the malware enabled “unauthorized parties to access payment card data” for some of its customers.

Hyatt says it will provide active updates on the potential data breach as it develops, accessible from this link.
