The Republican presidential frontrunner doubled down on his praise of Putin in a radio interview with Iowa’s Simon Conway on Friday, saying that he was confident that he could work well with Putin because he’s “always had a good feeling about him”. Putin has spent years antagonizing the West, and presidential candidates generally talk about their intentions to stand up to the Russian autocrat, not celebrate him.
While explaining Russia’s position on the Syrian settlement, the president added: “First, we asked the people: this way or not, do you agree or not”.
“They said he’s killed reporters”.
“If he has killed reporters, I think that’s bad”, the billionaire businessman and former Atlantic City casino magnate said during a phone interview on ABC’s “This Week”.
Donald Trump has defended Russian President Vladimir Putin, who praised the Republican in recent event, from allegations that he ordered journalists to be killed.
When her name came up, Trump said, “Yes, sure, there are allegations. He’s making mincemeat out of our president”. He also lambasted the U.S., NATO and other western countries for unnecessary meddling in North Africa and the Middle East. His statements were made in a recently released Russian documentary titled “World Order”. “I just think so”.
212 GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney took to Twitter to point out “Important distinction: thug Putin kills journalists and opponents; our presidents kill terrorists and enemy combatants”.
“There are many allegations he was behind the killing of Anna Politkovskaya-” Stephanopoulos said before Trump interrupted.
Trump continues to stick by his comments and his views on Putin saying, “I didn’t say anything one way or the other”.

But believe the American tycoon when he says that Putin is a man with whom he would “get along”, and who, “in terms of leadership, he’s getting an A”. Last week, Putin signed a law allowing Russia’s Constitutional Court to decide whether or not to implement rulings of worldwide human rights courts. “He’s not going to mention them, so they’re jealous as hell”.
