“Star Wars” added to Critics’ Choice Awards best pic race
Christmas Day was the third-highest in advance ticket sales for The Force Awakens, and a strong backup lineup of films to support it should make this Christmas – and Christmas weekend – one for the record books.

Up for grabs was seven years of free movies, Star Wars collector’s items and a trophy for the person who made it through an endless loop of the franchise as part of a marathon viewing contest.

Still, the enormous take on Monday suggests that The Force Awakens will have substantial legs.
