SpaceX launches rocket 6 months after accident, then lands
The SpaceX launch and landing this week was a much trickier accomplishment, and marks the first time a rocket has been safely landed after delivering a payload into orbit. The booster then flipped around and fired its engines to reduce its speed, dropping back into the atmosphere and powering back down to the vicinity of Cape Canaveral, landing smoothly at another pad some nine kilometers away.

For decades, Cape Canaveral served as the iconic launch site for countless missions to space, and now thanks to SpaceX, the legendary facility has also seen a rocket landing shortly after launching a payload into space.
Third time was the charm for the private spaceflight company, which now carries the privilege of completing the first rocket landing during an orbital launch.
Elon Musk launched rocket took along with it not just 11 satellites, it put them into orbit and then made a historical turnaround and landed at the barge in exactly the same condition as SpaceX scientists wanted it to land. While SpaceX’s famous founder Elon Musk is typically the focus of conversations surrounding the company, many more men and women are involved with the company’s endeavors.
Second, SpaceX’s upgraded design for its Falcon 9 rocket worked flawlessly.
The successful launch also marked SpaceX’s return after its last rocket exploded during takeoff on June 28.
After Monday’s landing, SpaceX announced it had more rockets in development that are created to pull off the same maneuver.
Just two minutes after launch that day, the Falcon 9 disintegrated, destroying food and other supplies greatly needed on board the space station. Even though it could likely be reused, Musk said the Falcon 9 that flew on Monday won’t be used again.
“It’s a revolutionary moment”, NBC News quoted Musk telling reporters.
SpaceX has come close to landing a rocket but until now, never actually pulled the feat off.

Rival company Blue Origin, a space start-up founded by Amazon.com chief executive Jeff Bezos, nailed a similar return rocket landing test last month.
