Bowles, Jets concerned about wins, not playoff scenarios
Let me start off by saying the Titans are surely better than that 3-9 record.

New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles talked to the NY media after the Titans game. These three teams are now two games clear of the pack with only three games left to play. On the receiving end, Brandon Marshall continued to state his case as one of the premier wideouts, finishing with 6 receptions for 125 yards, including a 69-yard score on a broken play. His two touchdowns rushing have come in the past three games, and he is averaging 8 yards a carry. His previous high was 10.5 sacks, which he recorded in 2013. There pass defense has regressed some, however, and has allowed 280 yards per game over their last three to opposing passers.
Powell took a short pass from Fitzpatrick and slipped defenders and zipped his way into the end zone for a 16-yard touchdown that made it 20-0.
Mariota has helped rev up a run game that has had its issues this season.
ABOUT THE JETS (7-5): Fitzpatrick’s 390 passing yards last week were the most by a Jet since Vinny Testaverde in 2000.

Both credit Fitzpatrick for his great communication with his wide outs, and said that he does it both on and off the field, which has led to a good sense of camaraderie for the Jets. The team was flat, couldn’t tackle anyone and with the headsets going out at one time and not being able to call a play from the booth to the field, left a receiver uncovered that Jurrell Casey had to run down. CB Darrelle Revis uncertain to play vs. Titans after missing last two games with concussion….
“He’s playing well”, Bowles said of the quarterback, who can become a free agent after this season. “We were focused, we were locked in and we’ve got to continue to stay locked in throughout the rest of the season”.
The Jets are a good defensive team, overall. The Jets are just a year removed from a four win season. In fact, the Jets are the only team in the National Football League that has given up at least five more big passes than they have gained for themselves and still sport a winning record.
With that in mind, the Jets produced their best effort of the season and avoided falling for a possible trap game against the woebegone Titans (3-10), who were eliminated from playoff contention for the seventh straight season. Three losses followed that game, including a loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, before they won in Week 13 against those same Jaguars. That’s a high billing for a player who has already started to change the culture in Nashville.
Mularkey said the Titans’ headsets went out on them, adding to the confusion. He has the experience to put a good gauge on Mariota, and it is not just empty teammate pumping. Mariota took the ball 87 yards for a touchdown and he had blockers all the way there.
The Jets have a strong secondary and it will test Tennessee’s pass-heavy offense. At which point it will be up to Davis, Pryor or whomever Coach Bowles dubs the spy, to catch the Heisman-winning quarterback before he gets a full head of steam.
More importantly, they hold onto the second Wild Card position in the AFC, which is music to the ears of Jets’ fans.

Tennessee certainly won’t be a contender this season – except possibly when it comes to securing one of the top selections in the 2016 Draft.
