No Indictment From Grand Jury In Sandra Bland Jail Death Case

“There’s no doubt in my mind that she, like too many African Americans who die in police custody, would be alive today if she were a white woman”, he said, CNN reports.

Greece was by far probably the most very popular point of entry, with greater than 820,000 migrants arriving there. The EU is grappling for solutions to the mass arrival of migrants, a lot of them Syrian refugees from Turkey .

Dashboard camera video of Bland’s arrest on July 10 shows Encinia informing Bland he was giving her a warning for failing to signal a lane change, but then the encounter became heated when he asked her to put out her cigarette. Encinia was placed on desk duty after the DPS said he violated traffic stop procedures and the department’s courtesy policy.

I don’t like going against Stoke at home, they tend to keep a lot of clean sheets, and I’m going with a win for the Potters again.

Officials in Waller County, Texas, have said Bland hanged herself with a plastic bag.

On Monday, the family’s attorney, Cannon Lambert, said the grand jury’s decision not to indict was consistent with a cover up by authorities.

Bland’s mother, Geneva Reed-Veal says that the investigation was mishandled by authorities.

A Houston-based federal judge last Thursday set a trial date for January 23, 2017, in the Bland wrongful death suit.

Details are sketchy as to what happened after the arrest because there is no audio on the videos released from the Waller County Jail. After her arrest, she went through intake and was booked into Waller County jail.

By determining no felony was committed by the sheriff’s office or the jail where she was held, Bland’s death was in effect ruled a suicide. The courtroom was packed with roughly 100 people, with the hallways outside the courtroom filled with about 50 more supporters who could not get in.

“Whether you like it or not, the Supreme Court has made it clear police are in charge at a traffic stop, and they can make anybody get out of the auto – driver or passenger – for no reason whatsoever”, she said. If that. She should never have been taken from her auto in the first place, and her blood is on Encina’s hands even if she did commit suicide, which I don’t trust for a moment.

“Community reaction is pretty intense and obviously across social media there’s a lot of outrage”, Smith says.

The grand jury will reconvene in January to consider other indictments.

She was discovered dead in her jail cell three days later.

Dash cam footage of Bland’s arrest shows trooper Encinia threatening to use a taser on the 28-year old woman for refusing to step out of her vehicle. Her family also said she was not suicidal, the county argues. We would love to speak with the family.

Waller County District Attorney Elton Mathis has maintained that there is no evidence of foul play, but a lawyer for the family is requesting all the evidence from the grand jury proceedings to conduct their own investigation.

At a news conference earlier Monday, the family of Bland said they do not believe her case is being thoroughly investigated by the Texas Rangers or properly presented to a grand jury by special prosecutors.
